What to give teacher for being so awesome for PITA child? I don't want it to be gauche, and I don't know what teacher likes.

School supplies, or a gift card to someplace to get them.  Almost every teacher gets some of their supplies out of their own pocket.  Another good "gift" is a letter to the principal and/or superintendent saying how great the teacher was.  Give a copy to the teacher as well.
