@IgECPD4  Diversity of bacteria in farm homes may be the protective factor against atopy#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Hayfever data didi not show much difference between 1955 and 1995 from Hal Nelson's data but asthma has a much bigger increase

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Even in Africa where the asthma rates are low there is an urban affluence link to high positive DM titres#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer In Costa Rica there is a similar pattern where the water is cleaner, shoes are common and helminths eradicated but more asthma#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Teens who had cats in the 1st year of life had a decreased risk of cat allergy at the age of 18.#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Dog exposures more protective re: all forms of allergy not just dogs. Perhaps the same as barnyard protection#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Platts Mills reviewing data on frequent washing esp with soap harming the skin barrier which may lead to increased sensitization#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Alpha-gal exposure in Africa leads to high positive cat titres but no increased asthma rates#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer NHANES data shows 2-5X increase in atopy from the 80's to the 90's#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Meta-analysis of various trials with varying protocol designs showed no help but methods of administration differed#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer 9% of American deficient in Vit D and 61 % insufficient. 28% in Costa Rica as well#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Multiple small studies link lower serum 25(OH)D3 levels and various markers of asthma incl assoc with FEV1#ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer No long-term studies with Vit D. Dose to aim for unknown #ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Int Arch Allerg study showed odds ratio 4.2 for increased asthma risk ePUB with Vit D deficiency #ACAAI

@IgECPD4
David Fischer Other studies not as supportive of Vit D and some show worsening. Could be Vit D and genetic factors #ACAAI
