Title: JIMMY JOHNS
Post by: ilismama on April 24, 2012, 05:52:18 PM
does anyone have any info on Jimmy Johns for peanut allergy?
My DD's teacher is having a special luncheon for some students Friday from JJ & i can't find any info on their website.
sent an email, but in the meantime i wondered if anyone here would know-specifically about the bread used for sandwiches (i know the chips are made w/peanut oil-at least the last time *I* went there).
TIA!!!

bumping and moving--

from what I can tell, they regard ingredient info as "proprietary" and are not very forthcoming re: allergen risk.

Pepper, chips, and cookies are all pn/tn risks, evidently... and other allergens are probably best summed up with "it depends-- maybe they can tell you and maybe they will tell you."

There is one of these near DD's campus.  She has friends that love it-- and has (much to my dismay, I'll add) eaten one of their plain slims-- with no obvious ill effects-- but I'm a bit concerned that they lied to her about risks, and completely failed to divulge the shared facility with their seasonings and the chips which are actually done in peanut oil

Not that you'd know that from their website:

Jimmy John's

FWIW, DD maintains that the two sandwiches she has eaten there "tasted about like cardboard."   :-/

We could not get a straight answer from them so DS was not allowed eat it.  DH and I would get the sandwiches as lettuce wraps (no bread) while in the process of moving.

Hello All,

This is the email response I received from Jimmy Johns.
Thanks for eating at Jimmy John's!  I am writing you back in response to your earlier e-mail.

The ingredients in our products do not contain nuts or nuts products (other than chips), however some of our manufacturing facilities, including but not limited to the cookie and hot pepper facilities do process nut products. Our bread facility is nut free.

You ask if our bread contains any sesame seeds:

French Bread- It is sesame free but it is used in the plant.

Wheat Bread - It is not sesame free.

You ask if our bread contains any sunflower seeds:

French Bread- It is sunflower seed free.

Wheat Bread - It is not sunflower free.
