I had misunderstood your previous post--I thought you were saying that you could have corn but not corn syrup.

I don't know anything about IgG testing, but if you test positive to the IgE test it means you are allergy to the protein. But since you already know that you react, I guess the testing just confirms your experience! (And there can be false negatives and positives with these tests.)

That is very interesting. We just went to the allergist this week and he did the SPT and almost nothing counted as a "reaction" he did get one of his splotchies in the area where they did the corn. It turns out the splotchies are hives, but the skin reaction didn't meet the clinical definition of a reaction. We also took the RAST test again, the first one was negative for everything (4/07), so we'll see what happens this time. DS has had reactions to Dextrose in food, when there was no other obvious corn ingredient. Dextrose is a corn based sugar. Do you react to foods that have Dextrose in them? What does your reaction look like? Check out the link at the top of this thread she has the most comprehensive corn allergy web site I've found. Maybe if you contact her she'll have some insight/answer to your question.

Somedays I wish I lived in CA as they are now marketing camel's milk which has the good qualities of milk but a different make-up so it's generally tolerated for cow milk allergic. Goat's milk is generally not tolerated if he does have a cow milk allergy - they are very similar in properties.

If it's not one thing, right?

Hey YKW--next time I make a Blue Bell run to North Carolina, maybe I could pick up some camel's milk and send it to you! Smiley

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have done exhaustive research over the past 18 months, since my daughter was diagnosed, and it has been so hard to find information on corn allergy. Even our allergist kind of just patted me on the back and said "good luck", but with the soy and egg allergy, they had extensive packets to send home with us.

It's interesting, I was spending so much time trying to figure out how to help HER, I didn't even think about joining a forum/discussion board to help ME help her.

Kind of like reinventing the wheel on a daily basis!
