We had a reaction from egg in hair conditioner. I am pretty sure she had a cut, but not worth the risk to us.

There is also a shell builder for turtles that you put in their water that has egg shell in it.

Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted.

I am not a lawyer or a doctor. Trying not to play one on this board, but would love to play one on T.V.

Which reminds me-- there are egg solids used in a lot of supplements for birds, as well. (Thinking finches, parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, small parrots.)

<shudders>

I really appreciate hearing the story about the conditioner, too-- hairstylists always think I'm a little, well.... overzealous might be kind... more like Smiley.... but I ALWAYS ask to see ingredients on whatever they're spraying her down with. Nut oils I've seen, there in some salon products... but not egg in particular. Now I know to look.

I would definitely watch hair care products. I brought product with us the first time I took DD to her salon but I checked their products and they were safe, so I let them use them. I just came prepared in case, though.

Should have said, it was Bed Head Oatmeal and Honey. We had used it in the past so I think this must be a formula change.

Most Asian fish cakes will be made with egg white. Surimi is one type but more of an umbrella term. Others are kamaboko, chikuwa, hanpen more specifically. There's others. Haven't checked a package of cuttlefish or pork balls in about a year but I wouldn't be surprised if a small amount of egg white is in those as well.

At Japanese restaurants anything deep fried has a good chance of having egg in the batter like ~katsu and tempura. It might not always be a hen's egg but there's usually egg. Some people use egg in dumpling or spring roll filling. Contrary to the name, some "egg" rolls have no egg, the roll is more of a spring roll. Some wrappers have egg and milk protein in the form of whey, some don't.

At Asian restaurants most meats and shrimp will be marinated in an egg white and cornstarch mixture. There are imitation egg noodles but even the standard wheat noodles are usually made on shared lines with egg.

I found egg in broth, I can't remember if it was chicken or beef...I'm shocked at some of the places I've found eggs, places I wouldn't think they would be.

most bagels either have egg or traces of
hamburger/hot dog buns
bread crumbs

Thankfully in Canada we have laws now that you have to disclose if there are any of the top 8 allergens in a product or if they could have some in contact with it, or it could be in it.

Sandra - seasonal allergies, penicillin, sulfa (outgrew berries), mild asthma
DH - season allergies, mild asthma
DD 7 - undiagnosed seasonal allergies
DD 5 - undiagnosed seasonal allergies
DS 11 months - severe egg allergy, banana and watermelon allergy, eczema, avoiding tomatoes, nuts and berries, possible seasonal allergies

Proctor & Gamble told me that the lecithin in ALL P&G products is from egg. I was calling about the CoverGirl pressed powder that uses the numbering system (can't remember the name, but lecithin was listed in the ingredients). They 1st told me that egg is in the Oil of Olay line called something like "Divinity." Then, they said that any P&G product with lecithin has the lecithin from egg.

Sorry if this is old news. Don't have time to read through all the old posts.

This weekend I found hotdogs with egg in it. Smiley Another lesson to me to never assume ANYTHING could be safe.

I know pizza dough has been mentioned before, but I have encountered 4 restaurants in the past month that use eggs in their dough. I thought it was worth repeating because it's something that I wouldn't necessarily have thought of at one time.
