I am looking for some  very low sodium appetizers for a get together next week. No allergies, but one person is on a low sodium diet for CHF.

My first thought: my apps don't have sodium. How could they?

Then it hit me.
Me: Sesame, shellfish, chamomile, sage
DS: Peanuts

Oh, yeah.  I didn't think about that when I created the thread.

Can I fix it?

Lol--I think it was just me who didn't get it at first. I am sure everyone else would.

I look forward to seeing what comes out of this thread. My mom is on a low sodium diet. It will be great to get some ideas.

I've never made them low sodium, but google tells me that there are lots of recipes out there for low sodium deviled eggs.  And whenever I make deviled eggs, they are like the first thing gone.

I do not add salt to my deviled eggs, but there is probably some sodium in the mayo and mustard in the filling.

Veggies and dip, make a dip with low salt, or a hummus flavored mostly with lemon and garlic.

What I already had planned was veggies and dip (I have already made this dip for the person who needs low sodium), pumpkin dumplings, homemade ricotta with fig jam and crostini. I will add deviled eggs to that. Still open to suggestions.

Fresh fruit type item?  Fruit on toothpicks with a piece of cheese and herbs?  Have to find a lower sodium cheese.

I will put out a little fruit, but having seen this group eat, I know fruit will not be a big hit.

Baked potato skins?  Top with cheese(low sodium), sour cream, green onions?  No bacon, or just a little for flavor, but not too much sodium?  You can always provide a salt shaker for those who desire a bit.

Cocktail meatballs?  Just be sure to not add salty ingredients, and do a sauce that is low salt as well.  That is hearty and I think you could do a zesty sauce with out adding much salt.

I happen to be looking at the grocery store ads before running my errands.  I am getting ideas from them:  Skewered chicken bites?  I know it is not a recipe, but an idea, and I know you can cook, and come up with something tasty.  :)  Maybe marinate in lemon and garlic and serve on rosemary twig skewers?

My neighbor does something like this...I think she drizzles pesto instead of balsamic, but either would be delicious

When I do potato skins and don't have any bacon, I use smoked paprika to give them a similar flavor.
