As families across the country navigate new ways to attend school during the coronavirus pandemic, FARE is hosting two September webinars by renowned civil rights expert Jim Long, JD, who will explain the nuts and bolts of legal protections for students with food allergies.

On Wednesday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. ET, tune in to Section 504, ADA and Ensuring the Protection of K-12 Students to learn how you can help your school district understand and fulfill its responsibilities to grade school, middle school and high school students whose food allergies or related conditions may constitute disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

One week later, on Wednesday, September 30 at 1:00 p.m. ET, Jim Long returns to present ADA, Section 504 and Higher Education: What You Need to Know. Hear about the rights and responsibilities of students managing potentially life-threatening food allergies at institutions of higher learning. Topics include academic adjustments, modifications, auxiliary aids and services, documentation rules and requirements, relevant cases that have shaped the legal landscape, and recommendations for negotiating school disability systems.
