OTTAWA, July 12, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to gluten not to consume the Healthy Times brand Brown Rice Cereal for Baby described below. The affected product contains gluten which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Healthy Times brand Brown Rice Cereal for Baby, product of USA, is sold in 6 oz (170 g) packages bearing UPC 0 48685 02188 0, Lot 02711 and a USE BY date of 15 JAN 2013.

This product has been distributed in Ontario and may have been distributed nationally.

There has been one reported allergic reaction associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to gluten.

CFIA is working with the Canadian importers to have the affected product removed from the marketplace.

The CFIA tested more batches and found wheat/gluten so they have expanded the recall to more lots.
