Read more than just the headline.

There was an epi-pen at school. Staff did not give it to him.

If asthmas meds do not work, can an epi-pen help with asthma? I thought yes, but I'm not sure....but it wouldn't have hurt.

Macabre

Yes. Epinephrine is given for severe asthma attacks. I used to get it at least once a year growing up when I had to go to the ER for an out of control attack.

^^ DS's allergist gave us instructions that if we were ever in a remote area when DS had a severe asthma or croup attack to epi him on the way to the hospital.

This is so heartbreaking. So many of our kids have done challenges. This is terrifying.

I honestly cannot even begin to imagine what that family is experiencing. This just took my breath away.

I was sitting at the allergist's office when I read this on my twitter feed.  Horrible!  I can not imagine!  It breaks my heart!

Macabre

This is utterly heartbreaking.

How this happens: sometimes Epi is not enough.

And a toddler is not old enough to articulate  changes is his body during a reaction. I will probably delete this sentence. And it may be best to take any discussion of how it could happen to OT, as we have done in the past.
