I need to buy some on the sly and stash them away too. I bought a bunch a while back and dd ate them all in record time. If she doesn't know we have them, and I dole them out less frequently, they will last a good long time. The problem is, she's almost always with me when I shop.

btw I have not seen any full size bars with peanut warnings yet. Only bags of fun size ones.

ok, I just bought the candy corn oreos.  Just tasted one.

Hmmm.  They smell like candy corn.  They taste more like vanilla oreos.  They taste good -- just not like candy corn.  IMO

As for the Milky Way Caramel bars, DH and I have noticed that the Targets locally (Northern Virginia) seem to be the only stores that have bags without a warning.

As for candy corn, this month's issue of Food Network magazine has an Alton Brown recipe for candy corn that is free of nuts and egg. (They also have an egg-free reciped for apple fritters.)

I've pretty much bought all my candy.  Target had the huge bags on sale a couple of weeks ago.  I got bags with Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls, Skittles, Dum Dums and Smarties (American non-chocolate version).  That's all I can think of off the top of my head.  Can pull together a complete list later.

But not tree nut free right? Do they make these in the same containers as the almonds (not sure about other nuts) like they do the jelly beans?

No it's not tree nut free.  They make something similar to jordan almonds and use the same polishers for them as for the jelly bellies.  In fact, they specifically warn people taking their factory tour of the risk of exposure to tree nuts.

I wish they would put tree nut warnings on their stuff. The words "made in a peanut free facility" makes it sound like they are ultra allergy aware and someone that thinks that might assume they would label for cross contamination risks.

Jelly Belly is not safe for tree nut allergies. They use the same equipment to spin nuts as the do to shine the Jelly beans. That is the sat I heard.

It just makes me think they are peanut free. But I don't assume they are just by the labeling.

I have found/bought/stashed away a few safe Milky Way Simply Caramel bars.  The old/safe for PA ones are getting hard to find. I'm still really upset they are now making them unsafe.

We've done the same thing.

unsafe carmel milkey way?  really?  sigh
