Didn't see this one in any of the archived threads...

Country Crock brand pre-made mashed potatoes in the refrigerated section of the grocery have egg as an ingredient.

Stupid me didn't check the label until I got home.  Fiancee and step-daughter thought they were gross and not as good as the brand that I normally buy when I'm feeling lazy though.

But really?  Eggs in mashed potatoes?  Why?

Ohhhhhh-- I bet it's an ingredient in the Simplesse/fat substitute in them, huh?

I would never have thought of that.

Here's one that we've run into with frustratingly increasing frequency-- DRY CAT FOODS.  It seems like most of the brands that we used to use now contain it.

Dug the container out of the trash...the egg (egg white lysozyme) is actually listed as part of an "antimicrobial blend".

Yum.

Lysozyme often shows up in cheese (usually hard European cheeses like Gran Padano).  It retards spoilage in cheese.

Just saw that Jewel Brand boxed Turkey Stuffing lists egg in parenthesis after 'natural flavor'.

Really surprised to have seen that one!

Smucker's Sundae Syrup - Caramel Flavored Syrup

Lists natural flavor from eggs.

Really?  And for fun, a not so easy to read label.  Good thing DS1 refuses me on it every time I offer it (yes, I hang my head in shame for not reading for eggs more closely but being more concerned about wheat, rye or barley).
DS1 - Wheat, rye, barley and egg
DS2 - peanuts
DD -  tree nuts, soy and sunflower
Me - bananas, eggplant, many drugs

I'm pretty sure that the sugar free version does not have egg.  It's been a while since I purchased it and I'm not sure about wheat, etc.

It's possible that it has been a somewhat recent change, too-- because I know that DD has had that stuff in the past, and there is little possibility that we would have:  a) missed it on the label and b) gotten so lucky that low-threshold DD didn't react, either.

That would have been during the period when touching plants which had been sprayed with deer repellent gave her hives-- after a heavy rain-- and when pasta on shared lines resulted in full-body hives.   So yeah, low threshold enough that this seems impossible to me.

Just checked their web site, and it must be a recent change.  I may even have noticed the change at the supermarket and just don't think of the product anymore because it's off our list KWIM?

I looks like they have two other caramel versions that do not have egg in them. (They're not fat free, though.)

I looked at Wegmans today... Looks like the squeeze version has egg.  All glass jars still read safe.

I use the Nestle La Lechera Brand Dulce de Leche in the squeeze bottle.  It's usually in the Mexican foods section.

It reads safe for the top 8, except for milk.  However, I am not that sensitive to egg, and not allergic to pn or tn at all.

I never would have expected egg to turn up in hard candy but we found egg listed in a lollipop. The brand name was Ozark - something.  Maybe Ozark Delight. (Got tossed before DS could get near it.)
DS TNA/EA, avocado, environmentals, asthma

Wow! I never would have guessed wine! Bummer!! What's this about coffee????
DS- eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, environmental, and eczema
