Welcome > Welcome and Introduce Yourself

Hello there!

(1/1)

catpatrol:
I'm Zoë, 16 and a high school student, and I have quite a few allergies. I'm allergic to eggs, peanuts, treenuts, dairy, and melons. Not to mention certain animals and molds, but oh well.
I've been allergic to eggs since I was very young, and the rest I found out along the way. I just found out two months ago I was allergic to dairy, so I've been dairy free since, in which time my face has gotten almost perfectly clear (I had eczema from eating dairy for so long, and it was bad). The only really bad thing about my allergies is that my parents didn't really believe me until I had an allergy test done, so it wasn't always easy to convince them I actually was allergic, and not just picky (I'm also very picky, which doesn't help). I've almost died from my egg allergy on several occasions as well, which is quite scary. I have reactions fairly often too, which sucks. I even left school today because I ate a rice crispy bar that contained milk.
But yep, hello. I'm glad I've found a place like this.

GoingNuts:
Welcome Zoe, I'm glad you found us.

I'm sorry to hear you've had some scary reactions, and that you have had a hard time getting your parents to believe you.  Hopefully you can find  some good info here to help keep you safe.

 :bye:  Hi Zoe!

I'm glad that you found us here.  My DD is a teen with an egg allergy, so she can definitely identify with the difficulties of navigating life with severe food allergies.

She is a member here, as well, though she doesn't post a LOT-- she says that just reading here has made her think of better ways to handle situations as they come up because she has already had a chance to see/weigh how the parents here think about those things, and also how other adults with FA handle them, and finally, some of the time, how other peers with FA think about them.

Information is power, right?  I hope that you find FAS a useful place, too.

^ Said DD.  Hello there!  Yep, egg allergies... Bah humbug.  Hope it's helpful for you!
