Liver-and-Pumpkin Dog cookies:
2 lb liver
20 oz pure pumpkin
1 c flax seeds (optional-- can replace with another binder if needed)
3-5 tbs parsley flakes
1/2 c olive oil
2 c whole wheat flour
Blend oil, liver, and pumkin in blender until smooth.
Mix with flour, parsley, and flax seeds, and spread into foil-lined greased pans, about 1/2"-1" thick. Cover with foil and bake at 350 F for 1 hr, cooling on rack and cutting into squares when cool. Store in freezer or fridge.
Air the house out for several hours and enjoy.
(These DO smell pretty awful when baking, and this is without question the most DISGUSTING meatloaf recipe EVER. Sorry. But dogs love them and they are pretty good for them, too.)
My dogs and cats both look at me like "Heyyyyy-- finally you're learning to cook something YUMMEH..." While I'm trying not to breathe in too deeply while I'm mixing them.
These can also be used as training treats and just crumbled into bits as needed.
