I know there are people here that use them.  What's the scoop?

I never called, but I used them (I normally don't call manufacturers, YMMV)

Peanut free lines.  Also the spices are sesame free, but the soup mixes are made on the same lines as sesame. Spices are not made on shared lines with sesame.

I'm sure DH asked about shellfish, too.
Me: Sesame, shellfish, chamomile, sage
DS: Peanuts

Where do you find Penzeys?

I was happy to use Watkins (they were within my comfort zone, immv)  but most of our Walmarts stopped selling them.  The big appeal for me is powdered garlic processed in the USA as opposed to China which is where McCormick and most other spice companies process.  I love fresh, but powdered is handy in a hurry.
DS1 - Wheat, rye, barley and egg
DS2 - peanuts
DD -  tree nuts, soy and sunflower
Me - bananas, eggplant, many drugs
Southeast USA

Penzey's is an online store for spices, and some physical stores in various cities. We got one in Tucson before I left and I LOVED IT! They had sample jars and everything smelled so good!

Moving to NH, with no Penzey's in sight...I ordered my entirely new spice cabinet fixin's from Penzey's. They have periodic good coupons and free shipping. I've never gotten anything I don't like from them, everything is pretty darn fresh (as far as dried spices go!). Nothing ever stale.

I LURV THEIR FLAKED SEA SALT! It's what I use all the time now :)

Near is a relative term :)  That is not an area I frequent much and could take an hour to get to on a good day.  I will peruse their online offerings.

Oh ha--I knew better than to use the word "near." I said "in your area," because well, you live in a big place. But if you ever happen to be nearby, do go. It's like spice porn.

We have a Penzey's near us (sort of) but I've never stopped in the few times I've driven by it.

My husband calls my subscription to Saveur magazine food porn.
