Full house
« on: May 29, 2014, 03:46:26 PM »
Spent a few hours in the ER with my youngest, who was miffed about being the only one of us without a prescription for epi-pens.

So no eggs for her and no fish, either, though I'm almost positive the reaction was starting before she touched the fish on her plate.  Have to make an appt with an allergist, which I was going to do, anyhow, to determine whether she'd outgrown issues with dairy.

She's fine now.

I didn't need this today.  Or any day.

I'm trying to suppress the self-guilt.  Both in passing on my lovely atopy and also for delaying so long.  But I was protecting DS, y'know?  They're both such mouthy kids that I just wanted our spit-covered home to be *safe* for him.

And we all hit the jackpot yesterday.  DH had a histamine reaction at lunch, probably a mix of a too old spice blend and stress.  Ronan is covered in blisters that the NP is convinced is an atypical presentation of poison ivy/contact dermatitis (possibly weirdened by his mango/cashew allergy).  And I had an OAS type reaction to a fresh mulberry, which is a first for me.  (Maybe there was some other tree pollen on it, though, from a much taller tree.)

Oh, well.  Neither child inherited my diphenhydramine allergy, so at least they're simple to treat when we know what the problem is.

And I can still have coffee.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a smooth weekend at your house, Krasota.

ETA:  DS' urushiol thing sounds a lot like my responses to it, fwiw.  I have no mango/cashew allergy-- the primary IS the urushiol, but I can cross-react to either one, and have to be super-careful when grocery stores stock fresh mango.

Resistance isn't futile.  It's voltage divided by current.
