Yes, this is one of those things that the site seems to just, well-- DO.
I've had one or more of my avatars go missing just at random, too.  Well, at least I think it's at random, since I often do not recall changing anything or even viewing my profile before it happens.


Whenever you make changes to your profile, be sure to check your avatar info before you click the "save" button. 

You're not crazy.  I've mentioned that problem before.  Any time you alter your profile in any way, it gets rid of the avatar; at minimum, a web-based one.  I'm not sure if the same problem exists if it is not a web-based avatar where you provide the URL.  Every time I add or modify a signature, the avatar info. vanishes.

I lost my avatar again tonite?

I did diddle with my profile today to add siggy line.  Does that have anything to do with the loss of avatar?  (Please just tell me I'm an idiot . . . )

ETA -- so I went back in and there was nothing selected for avatar.  This is tiny version of what I used to have.

When you alter profile siggy, do you need ot always "re select" the avatar and the URL?

Weird that it dumped it when all I did was add siggy line?

Couldn't find anything in the error logs or bug reports, so I found the link to the image (at HB) and added it back for you.  Rather than using the direct link, I loaded it to my computer and uploaded it to our server (it's one of the perks of being admin ).

Very strange.  My only guess is that one of the security checks is doing it.  I'll see if there are any bug reports with the software, too.

I re-entered the direct link to photobucket image and it's not showing.

Neither is my message ("Committee Member Firebird")  Nevermind, message is there now.

I'll have to remember to send it from home...work won't let me onto photobucket!

Odd - send me an email or PM with a link to your avatar and I'll see what I can do.  Do make sure you're using the direct link and not the img tagged one, though.

Ok, I think I've gotten it fixed. 
You didn't need the img tags, just the direct link.

I'll send it to you tomorrow.  I had the same thought about it being corrupted, so I tried using a new one.  It just doesn't save, and then it checks "no image".

That's weird.  Since it disappeared from imageshack, I assume it isn't something on our end, but I'll definitely look into it!  If you want, email me your avatar (or even just the link you're trying to use) and I'll see if I can get it back into your profile.

I checked your profile and see the no image button is marked.  I do know our security system checks avatars and keeps possibly malicious ones off - not sure if it automatically checks the no image button if the avatar image is corrupt...

If your image was corrupted, that might explain how it disappeared from imageshack, too.
