FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 16, 2009 - Scarborough, Maine – Hannaford Supermarkets has taken the precaution of removing Taste of Inspirations Vegetable Spring Rolls from its freezer cases because the rolls may contain shrimp, which was not listed on the ingredient panel.

No illnesses have been reported. However, people with an allergy or sensitivity to shellfish risk serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume a product with shellfish.

The action is based on two customer reports in Maine and two customer reports in Florida that the spring rolls contained shrimp. The product also is sold at Sweetbay Supermarket in Florida, which also has removed Taste of Inspirations Vegetable Spring Rolls as a precaution.

The manufacturer, Original Rangoon of Massachusetts, is in the process of reporting the matter to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as the investigation continues.
