How funny-- DD and I were looking at this just yesterday in the grocery store. It was right next to the Nutella. I didn't see anything on the label that would indicate a problem with pn/tn/egg, though I'm recalling soy and milk both. Maybe it was just soy. Hmm.
It looked so terrible nutritionally that I quickly lost interest, though. And rest assured that I mean "terrible" in the most literal sense; this was in comparison to the Nutella I was purchasing instead. LOL...

Yes, I was thinking as more of a treat...I crave nutella every so often but will not buy it for our house. Of course, I really don't need a large jar of it in the house either.

Mashed up, FAT-LOADED cookies, yes. Apparently. ;D I was trying to imagine what on earth it would be "appropriate" with. As a spread, I mean.
The only things that I could really come up with off hand were:
a) sandwich cookie filling,
b) ganache-without-the-chocolate and in a convenient package. So cake filling, that kind of thing.
c) cannoli filling.
What does your household do with this stuff, Mac? Because realize that my DD's got the same kind of sweet tooth that you and your DH do-- I may have mentally overlooked something that she'd find delightful.
Once a month it so it's great spread on DH's multigrain bread.
My mother, who loves pb, latched onto this stuff.
I haven't seen this at all - but I bet Fairway has it. I'll have to keep an eye out, though I have to say sweets really aren't our thing. Fat is. :misspeak:
DH contacted the company and it is safe for us (PN/TN/SFA). We have been enjoying it --gone through two jars. Yes, horrible nutritionally but we're good nutritionally in other areas so it all evens out.....Quite yummy.

I called tonight about their cookies, which I've started seeing locally. The customer rep could not possibly have been more helpful, or knowledgeable about our issues.
He assured me that both the cookies and the spread are made in a completely, totally PN & TN-free facility. Can't wait to try the cookies; I imagine they are like the Bistro Biscuits I got from TJ's yesterday. Yummo!

Does that include the "Anna's Thins" cookies? I think I've seen those at the store.
The Biscoff cookies are the same ones that some airlines used to serve onboard, if I recall . . . ;)

I just found it at Stop & Shop today. Next to the PB. I bought it, but just got home and have not tried it yet.
got it! Bought some last night - very interesting! Tastes (as it should) just like a cookie. It's super sweet. I have no idea how I'll eat it, it needs something super dark chocolate maybe? I can imagine making a frosting and flavoring it w/ Biscoff or for a cupcake filling. Another idea is swirling it into homemade vanilla icecream!
I have ZERO idea HOW IN THE WORLD this is a "peanut butter replacement"? They better watch out, the Nutella-lady is gonna sue Biscoff!

it's smooth, but not like frosting. It tastes like Biscoff cookies, which kinda taste a little graham crackery to me. Like a "graham cracker shortbread cookie" kinda. I thought it would have been grainy --- creamed cookies --- but it's super smooth, I'm guessing like what a super smooth fat-rich peanut butter texture would be. But, it tasted NOTHING like pn butter or anything nutty, it tastes like the cookies.
It's very strange.

This is a close comparison, IMO.
Like brown sugar and cinnamon grahams whipped with crisco. :P I prefer the smooth (though obviously not-so-much... really isn't to my taste).
The 'crunchy' version is like... um... gritty, somehow. The way that oreo cookie ice cream is gritty, but drier.
Somehow I missed this thread. I was visiting my family yesterday & my 16yo nephew was telling me about this spread. My kids ears perked up, I told them it probably wasn't safe. My nephew tells me it's vegan. I'm going to see if I can pick some up for a special treat...
MaryM, DS loved it. I don't have much of a sweet tooth so it wasn't my thing, but he loved it on Challah or on toast. Also on Ritz crackers.
I have never seen it but here where I live probably won't. I will look when I move. Is this spread safe for sesame allergy?
I finally figured out what it's really good on--bananas. I just smear some on the side of a banana, and eat it that way. Oh, it's so good!
DD likes it on apple slices, too.
We finally found a peanut butter that we love through Trader Joe's. But apparently Trader Joe's also makes a version of Biscoff and now the PB has a warning on it regarding shared lines with wheat. Grrr.
Not sure what to do because the last jar didn't have the warning, the new jar does. But I am guessing they didn't change manufacturing processes in the last month.
And yes, I should have called but at the same time it's one of those items that you don't think about.
Ugh-- any chance you could find a local grind-it-on-the-spot place in a health food store? Not the same, I know. I'm a fan of creamy, myself, and the insta-grind stuff always seems to wind up a little grainy for my taste. :-/
We can make due with what is readily available in the grocery store and have in the last week because I haven't been able to make it to TJ's. We liked the fact that this one didn't have palm oil though. I am pretty sure if I searched in the grocery store I could find one sans palm oil and junk fillers.
DS1 who abhored peanut butter for years absolutely adores it now and would gladly eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner unless I am making spaghetti. It does make for a fun lunch making time - PB&J on rice bread for DS1, PB&J on wheat bread for DD and Sunbutter and jelly on wheat bread for DS2. Which is why I ask for complete silence and have to have three counters cleaned off to make lunch.

We're all dreaming up different ways to use it. Pretzels??? Bagels?? Apple slices?? Honestly, I foresee most of it going being eaten straight out of the jar with a spoon.

That's precisely how my DD feels about the stuff. LOL. I had to wait until the second jar to even get to TRY any of it, and I still can't quite figure out why she thinks it's so terrific.
She's a bit obsessed, in fact. Any mention of the store which carries it is followed by a perky, pleading... "MMMMmmm... Biscofffff spread?? Puhleeeeeeeez?"
We tried it! It's good but I'm not sure how we'd use it. As of now it's a special treat to have a spoonful! It might be good on a cupcake...
Found it yesterday and decided to give it a try. Just tasted it on a banana. Good, but I prefer Sunbutter or soynut butter on it. It is tastey but not a PB sub IMO. More of a dessert item. Dd loves it, which is good. She is enjoying it with saltines, and right now, dipping pretzel goldfish in it. Ds refuses to try it, lol. "looks gross" according to him.
Finally bought a jar...oh boy it could be very dangerous. So far best on apple slices. Tried it on graham crackers but the graham flavor hides the biscoff flavor.
It's good on Biscoff cookies! I found both today at Walmart. Thanks, guys, for the idea!
oh yeah, I mean -- I don't know how people think it's a PB substitute, it's only the color and consistency that is the same.
IT'S FR---ING CRUSHED UP COOKIES!
I put some on a crepe last night that also had super dark chocolate swirls in it from melted 80% cacoa bars. I think I can only have the Biscoff spread with super dark chocolate...it's so sweet!
