Powder and capsule forms of a store-brand herbal supplement are being voluntarily recalled because they pose a risk to people with milk allergies, says Health Canada.

Exact Multi Greens Powder and Exact Multi Greens Capsules are labelled as not containing dairy, but may contain trace amounts of milk protein from ingredients used in the production process.

Health Canada says people with milk allergies can experience a range of mild to severe symptoms when exposed to even small amounts of milk proteins. Symptoms include breathing difficulties that, in some cases, can be life-threatening.

The recalled items are classified as natural health products that contain live bacteria (probiotics) for therapeutic purposes.

Exact is the store brand of Loblaws grocery chains.

The products affected by the recall are:

— Exact Multi Greens Powder (225 g): EN-142033

— Exact Multi Greens Powder (510 g): EN-142033

— Exact Multi Greens Capsules (360 capsules): EN-142032

To date, the department hasn't received any reports of adverse reactions involving these products
