Title: Girl Scout Cookies?
Post by: nameless on February 17, 2012, 06:47:32 PM
In a PMS moment, I bought 2 boxes of GS cookies --- not remembering the info from the past on which bakery is safe or risky, etc.

Samoas and Thin Mints
Little Brownie Bakers

Label reads fine, which is usually in my comfort zone, but just want to check here...can't find the thread?

We were able to have Thin Mints this year --- a first for us.  As far as I can recall, we haven't been able to have them before this year.

Wow, GP.  I had no idea about the Thin Mints. I just saw on the ABC website that "a recent change has removed whey from the Thin Mints".  :)

I don't believe Little Brownie Bakers Thin Mints are milk-free. Bummer as they are sold by our local council.  :-[

The ABC bakery does the thin mints without milk this year, YIPPEE!!  They are the bakery for the cookies sold in our area, at least the ones we have bought.

If you mean the Lemonades from ABC Baker, the ones we bought read safe.

PrinCheese, go in on the ABC bakery website (link in DrummersMom's post:  http://abcsmartcookies.com/cookies_nutrition.asp (http://abcsmartcookies.com/cookies_nutrition.asp)) and click on "Girl Scout Cookie FAQ" ,,,, then scroll down to "How do you look out for people like me who have food allergies?" ..... then click on the + sign to read that section.

Thanks everyone.  So the box should say made by the ABC bakery then?  I'm going to hunt someone down that has the Lemonades today hopefully.  You dont' know how bad I want one with caramel in them. :(

Adrienne (I always spell your name wrong!).. what are Samoas? (sp?!?!)  I use to be in brownies/girl scouts and haven't ate the cookies SINCE then!

Depending where you live - the GS cookies will have either ABC or Little Brownie bakers on the box.

Samoas are a thin butter shortbread cookie with caramel, coconut, chocolate.

Lemonades are only made by ABC Bakers. I think the Little Brownie version is Lemon Cremes or something and they are NOT safe.
