What about spiced pecans, barbecued pecans or candied pecans? You should be able to find recipes that are milk free for all those. Pralines? I'm guessing those have milk, but might be worth checking out recipes to see if you can make substitutions.
That is awesome!! I know that raw pecans are not good tasting. I'm not sure how to fix that though-I rarely ate them alone before we had kids. Mostly in dishes. They do freeze but seal them very well or they'll get freezer burned easily.
Just have to share our good news --- both of my kids had a food challenge today to pecans and passed. !!!!!
Now I have to figure out how to use pecans in their diets --- they weren't happy with the taste of the raw pecans during the challenge. Anyone have a recipe --- I'm wondering about roasting them or glazing them somehow?
BTW, we obtained our peanut-free pecans from Tierra Farms. I also ordered walnuts and almonds from them to have on hand for future challenges, hopefully happening soon.
Which brings me to the question: Can I freeze tree nuts for the future? Not sure how long they last.
