Can DD use topical analgesics/anesthetizing agents on the broken skin in her mouth (orthodontia)? She's PA/TNA and egg allergic.
What have other people tried without problems?
I'm interested in this too. I had an infected wisdom tooth about a week ago and was literally a vegetable for almost a week until I got my tooth removed. Lived on Tylenol.
I've used Orajel but it's been years.
Not PA - but something that I would be really careful about is using the orajel and then eating anything...I've used orajel, and it always ends up numbing my throat as well - I'd worry that it might mask some of the earlier reaction symptoms if she came into contact with something else.
I'm sure that you've thought about this already, but wanted to mention it, especially since if I remember correctly you're doing the baked egg dosing - I'd be really careful about using the orajel anytime near that.
Good reminder.
We've cautioned her about using it near "eating" period, if only because deadened buccal surfaces make additional damage even more likely...
but it is offering her some relief on the patches of broken skin inside her mouth and lips. So far so good, anyway.
I'm having her apply it to a clean fingertip first, and only then apply it VERY sparingly to the sorest spots in her mouth.
how did the tooth removal go? Painful afterward sounds like.
Mouth seems to heal so quickly! hope she feels better in a day or so
My PA/TNA dd used orajel when she had a painful canker sore recently. No problems. I guess I never even thought about it and usually I'm pretty careful. yikes.
