My garden is producing more green beans than I can think of using. What are some fantastic green bean recipes free from tree nuts, peanuts, potato, and dairy? (Vegan would be nice too.)
Simply stir fried with some garlic, ginger and soy sauce plus some touch of sweet from a pinch of sugar or honey? Roasted in the oven with seasonings of your choice? I love them roasted.
Mmmmm, I've never roasted green beans. Must try that.
I was going to suggest the stir frying too, maybe with some hot pepper as well if you like heat.
you could blanch some and freeze for soups
three bean salad
I have a roasted green beans and shallot recipe somewhere...
I also like roasting plain with olive oil and then sea salt...get all crispy!
We do them on the BBQ.
Bit of oil, sometimes margarine, season to taste.
Great ideas, everyone! I think I'll try roasting some tonight with supper. I'll keep all the other ideas for later this week too. Whatever is left by Thursday or Friday (fresh from the garden, that is) will be blanched and frozen for later.
I'm also very curious about this three bean salad... must find a recipe via Google.
My very favorite way to enjoy green beans does require a garden. Bring some salt outside. Pick, salt, eat, repeat. They taste different that fresh than even a few hours later.
Definitely, Hedgehog! My lunches for the past week have consisted of me weeding the garden and eating more than my fair share of the fresh produce I pick along the way. Green beans and peas are quite tasty right now. Courgettes (zucchini) will be next. Plus all the berries and rhubarb, etc. that makes its way into my tummy.
I LOVE peas. Sadly, I am the only one in my family who does. I need to find some fresh peas now, and make myself a nice fancy something with them!
DS likes me to but sugar snap peas to snack on.
