Just need a vent where I know you guys get it.
I had an EGD done today, and they took a biopsy for celiac.
While I'm very thankful that they didn't see anything else of concern, like Chrones or anything like that...
Does it ever freaking end? The allergy sh**, does it ever end? I am so tired of the nut allergy sometimes, and I feel seriously overwhelmed just thinking about gluten being an issue. I know it will make me feel better to cut it out if that is the issue, but I am so upset right now.
I have to wait three weeks for the results, and I am already just ready for it to be over with.
:grouphug: It's a lot to deal with. I hope you get good results!
3 weeks? That's crazy!
So sorry, S&S. This allergy stuff really does suck.
Wow, that is a long wait for results. i'm so sorry you have such a long wait. Crossing all fingers and toes that you get a negative on that test result!! :crossed: :crossed: :crossed:
3 weeks was the soonest I could get in for results. So results may be there earlier, but I can't get in to see him.
Wow. That's a long time to wait.
I'm sure it feels pretty overwhelming right now to even think about what going GF would be like. You must just want to cry. :grouphug:
On the bright side, if that is what it is, you'll feel SO much better after you go GF that it will probably seem really manageable once you've done it for a few weeks. I just hope that you feel better soon!!
Thank you all. I know you all get it.
I know he is just trying to be nice and make me feel better, but if DH says going Gluten free won't be a big deal one more time, I might scream.
Because, to me, it is a big deal. It's very overwhelming to think about.
oh good grief, he does not know what he's talking about. ~)
Hang in there. :grouphug:
I suspect that if we translate this from "man-speak" into woman's English, this is the equal of "You are such a huge part of my life. I would do anything for you-- and if that means that we go gluten-free because you need that, I would SO do that without a backward glance. No question."
Guys so seldom think to do this full translation when we're stressed and could really use it. So what is really their hearts being in the right place comes out as "Why worry? I've got the solution right here. Easy." :grouphug:
Yes, I do believe it is coming from what CM pointed out. He would gladly give it up for me,like he did with nuts, and he is trying to make me feel better. It's just driving me crazy.
{{{hugs}}} S&S
When the doctor mentioned celiac might be my son's problem, dh also thought going gluten free would be no big deal.
fortunately it wasn't ds's problem, and since then, dh has learned a bit about gluten free. He really didn't "get it" and in that moment was not the time for me to teach him.
I can definitely help on the nut & gluten free side of recipes, mostly pan-Asian some more towards traditional Chinese like lionshead, hot pot, radish cake, Hainan chicken rice. The biggest change was moving from white rice to a mixture of brown rice and quinoa.
I may need your recipes for sure.
Thank you all for your understanding. :grouphug: Nobody besides my DH quite understands like you guys do.
I think DH is just trying really hard to be cheery and optimistic. I stood in the gluten free section and almost cried.
CM, where did you get that Manspeak translator? Can you buy them on Amazon?
S&S, I totally get it. Ad if it makes you feel any better, our respective MD's were both convinced thAt DS and I would be positive for celiac, and we weren't. I hope the same for you. :grouphug:

Can you tell him that you appreciate his support but are really overwhelmed, and the "no big deal" feels dismissive whether he means it that way or not?
:grouphug:
What a lot to go through. I'm so sorry, S&S. Wishing you solid and good answers and options.
Just wanted to update. I don't have celiac. :happydance: Thank you all for.your support. It meant a lot that you all get it.
That is terrific news!!!
Yay!
Excellent news!! :happydance:
(now-- are you feeling better, though??)
Kind of feeling better. They upped my one set of pills, which seems to be working well.
They think it must just be ibs because there is nothing else there. Trying a new medicine for IBS, but the side effects are awful. Dry eyes, dry mouth, etc. I'm not sure if the upset tummy is worse than that. I have one that I can slip under my tongue if I need it in a clutch, so I may just stick to that.
