With this Shiner beer (just the Shiner Cheer) and the high volume peanut industry in TX, I would not be surprised if there is some poss of Xcontam with peanut for this pecan-flav beer.  (The organic pecans farmed near where we used to live in W texas were all xcontm with peanut in packing and processing . . . )

I cook with beer -- use in chili and to braise meat, for example.

Never EVER would have thought to look for nut/pnut in a beer -- other alcohol, yes -- but not beer.

*sigh*

I mentioned this to DH (had a Shiner Cheer bottle to my right until about 10 minutes ago--ironic that I'm reading this now), and DH said, "Yes! It says so on the label."

Mr. Smartypants.

He knew it.

Now DS is not allergic to pecans and eats PF pecans, and he's never had a problem being around me while I'm having one.

Gotta say--those peaches have got to be from around Fredericksburg, and those are the best peaches I've ever, ever had.  One summer we drove from Houston to West Texas on the southern route--along I-10, and we stopped at a stand and had peaches. And peaches over Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, tyvm. Right there at the stand.  DS still talks about those peaches, and he must have been in 2nd grade.

Is that just the Shiner Cheer?  I usually only get Shiner Bock.

OK.

I didn't even THINK of reading the ingredients on this one.  (Duh -- not serving to my LTFA teenagers . . . )

It says "brewed with pecans".

Just a heads' up!

QuoteHappy Holidays from the "Little Brewery" in Shiner, TX. We hope you enjoy your Shiner Cheer, an Old World Dunkelweizen brewed with Texas peaches and roasted pecans. The malty flavors of this dark wheat ale are enhanced through the use of malted barley and wheat. And Kräusening ensures a smoothness that makes the subtle peach and pecan flavors all the more satisfying . . .
