Title: Crock Pot Chocolate Cake
Post by: joshsmom on November 07, 2011, 08:44:51 AM
I found this on Fix-It and Forget It. I have not made it, but I am going to since it seems so easy!

1 3/4 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1/4 cup plus 3 tbsp cocoa powder (divided)
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1/2 stick butter melted
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups boiling water

Spray crock pot w cooking spray. Mix 1 cup brown sugar, flour and 3 tbsp cocoa, baking powder, salt, vanilla, milk and butter in bowl. Pour in crock pot. Mix remaining sugar and cocoa powder. Sprinkle over mixture. Pour in boiling water. Don't mix. Cook in high 1 1/2 hr. Let cool 10mins. Invert onto platter. Serve w cool whip, pudding or ice cream.

Although I haven't made this recipe, I've had great success using a 4-qt. crock pot to make "quick" breads, cakes and cobblers.  (Tip:  be sure to spray the crock very, very well--bottom & sides--if you want to turn it out easily.)  Larger crock pots require more batter so I don't tend to use one more than 4 quarts for desserts...unless, of course, I'm feeding the neighborhood!

Thanks for the recipe.  It does sound good and especially, quick & easy!  I could begin this dessert when I begin cooking dinner.  Ummmm...warm chocolate cake with ice cream or whipped cream...ummmm...
