Inspired by a taste of amaaaaazing juice at a farmers market this weekend, I tried making an apple / kale / mint smoothie today. Flavor was okay--kinda bland--and the consistency was totally weird. I needed to blend it longer, but I suspect it still would have been strange, and I'm not sure how to fix that--maybe if I threw in some higher-moisture or creamier fruit?

Not a smoothie, I am juicing

Basic Mean Green
6 kale leaves
1 cucumber
4 celery stalks
2 green apples
1/2 lemon
1 piece of ginger

I play around with the "greens" by adding spinach, red kale (yummy), pears, parsley, cilantro, etc (this comes in handy when I have bits of things left over).

Green Monster Smoothie

1-2 frozen bananas
2 handfuls either spinach or kale
4-5 strawberries
Milk of choice (I use soy)
3-4 ice cubes
Optional:  blueberries, sunbutter (or a nut butter if you can), protein powder if you have a safe one

...Honestly, I'm mostly starting this thread in hopes that other people will post recipes for veggie-based smoothies...
