Every time I see the title of the thread, a different thought comes into my mind. One involving fast-growing plants that are only legal in a few states.

whole chicken in there now
when it comes out the spaghetti squash goes in
already did about 15 eggs > bringing them in for the boys in the office
as for not stirring and adjusting and babysitting......yeah that's really cool I like it EXCEPT that you can't adjust as you go - I cook differently - a little of this, a little of that, oh there's an orange here.....I'll add the juice...oh it's too salty - throw in some potatoes..and you can't do that in the pot - but I think I just need to think about it a little more and season accordingly - also there is no evaporation so you do need to season more than you would because nothing reduces.
It's fine to do that. Can't wait to hear the review!
So I watched part of the video here and saw the IP in action for the first time. It beeps. Yikes. I buy appliances based on whether I can turn the beep off. Can you turn it off in your IP?

Also---great examples of a Fort Worth accent. I do not have it, but I have many friends who do!
I don't have kindle unlimited so didn't work for me.

DH is going to make this tonight while I'm at swim practice. Hope it turns out good.

I don't have an instant pot, but I do bone in turkey breasts in my big slow cooker a lot. I use the seasoning from this chicken recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/45954/roast-sticky-chicken-rotisserie-style/, except with double the garlic powder and half of the salt.

Interesting - I would have thought turkey was too lean to do in a slow cooker. Maybe I'll have to give it try some time!
Maybe not cooked long enough? I've done a porky butt for 90 minutes.
OMG , that looks amazing. I want some now! With smoked paprika instead of bacon. :)
3lbs country style pork ribs - marinated in hawaian salt, soy, ginger, garlic, red pepper and brown sugar
1 cup or so water
on trivet - 28 mins
very yummy
I chopped them up and turned them into a giant pot of pork fried rice - added eggs, carrots, celery, onions and green onions, and soy - forgot the sesame oil
yummo!
Wow! I just checked Walmart’s preview ad, and just note that it is a 5qt, not the 6qt, advertised for $49. It’s a great deal, though. They also make a 3qt and 8qt.
My roomba arrived today!
Thought this comparison sheet might be helpful for any9ne looking to buy an IP

Got an e-mail my IP is in stock. Should be here next week, but since it is for Christmas I actually won’t use it for a while.
Mac and cheese was a win! Still have to grate all the cheese, but the rest was so much easier.
Hey SL - you can crack your eggs, put them raw in a safe dish and put that on top of yer taters
then you have an "egg loaf" that you just chop up - no peeling - even though it's usually really easy with the IP.
I made fruit water today
1 cup pinapple 1 cup mango - 8 cups water - 5 mins - QR
you can add ginger or herbs and use any combo - good stuff

Do you then add ice?
it's very watery - it just has a nice a fruit flavor - and I think would be great with VODKA!!!! :)
you could make lime water ice cubes for Vodka tonics! oh boy!

To be fair, I think that most things are great with vodka. I promise I am not having any now.
SL that’s good to know about spaghetti squash. It looks like the IP really shaved off a lot of cooking time.
We have some recipes we really enjoy with it if you’re interested.
Did she put cinnamon in it,?
I made this and DH and DS were rubbing it in their faces! Ok...maybe that's a southern thing but they LOVED it. It was very very good..
https://thisoldgal.com/pressure-cooker-pork-carnitas-mexican-pulled-pork/
I added
1 serrano - and left the pith and seeds of both it and the jalepeno
1+tsp of cayenne
1 T of a good quality Mexican chili powder
I think besides that I followed the recipe exactly
we have left overs for prob one more dinner and a few lunches
Tip of the day - did you know that you can freeze citrus fruit - yep you can and then defrost in cold water of microwave and they are perfect!

I have not tried these unstuffed cabbage rolls. But I plan to.

I plan to make this one evening this week.

I’ll use a different oil and oil and skip the sesame seeds.

This was dinner tonight.
I used 2 pounds meat instead of one, but otherwise basically followed the recipe. It was good, but not quite as flavourful as I would have liked. We decided it needs more tomato.
But, the cabbage and rice came out the perfect texture. (I used basmati rice...that’s what I had.)
Anyone try this? Freeze stuff so it’s almost like instant?

That's how I always do chicken soup, but I haven't tried it in the IP.Same here. I add soup greens - carrot, celery, onion, leek, parsley and dill. Sometimes a turnip and parsnip as well. Makes the house smell divine.

Instant Pot to the rescue while my oven is wonky. I did the whole chicken, then finished it under the broiler for a few minutes. I changed up the seasonings a bit, used the lemon and onion in the cavity and tossed in some garlic cloves as well. The broth is absolutely divine.
So this is what annoys me...the recipe I am making says that it cooks for 15 minutes, but if I want it to be done when the kids get home how much time do I need for it to come up to pressure?

Going to make this tonight, but why would it need 20 minutes to cooke? Chili lime chicken only needs 6...due to the amount of sauce? Worried it's going to be overcooked chicken.

This is in my pot right now. Used 2 pounds meat again. Added a can of spaghetti sauce as well as the canned tomatoes. Hoping I didn’t screw it up. The directions say to add ingredients, stir, then add canned tomatoes on top and do not stir. I added everything and stirred.
It’s still preheating...hope it pressurizes. :crossed:
This isn’t an IP recipe, but I thought I’d post it because of the spice combination with cinnamon. The dates melt into the stew, and the spices are warm and layered, and there’s a little heat if you use the chili flakes. It’s not overly sweet. The cookbook version also suggests serving with green olives. It’s one of my all time favorite recipes—reminds me of a lamb stew my mother used to make when I was a kid. Seems like a common Moroccan spice combo, might pair well with different meats as well.I made this today to have later in the week. OMG, it is amazing. When I serve it I’ll wilt some spinach in and finish it with some grated lemon, serve over basmati rice. Thanks Buttons!

I might try that without the cinnamon. Cinnamon is for breakfast. Unless you're having breakfast for dinner.
