Swollen lymph nodes is not a common symptom of food allergy, but can be linked with medications or infections, and possibly other causes that a doctor can review with you.  Throat swelling that makes it difficult to breathe or swallow can be a symptom of allergic reaction, however.

I still emphasise meeting with your regular doctor as soon as possible and starting a food journal, in case a food is causing any variety of symptoms from allergies, intolerance, or something else.

thanks for your reply, so does this sound like a food allergy? do lymph nodes swell when eaten something that allergic too? a few months ago i was having a lot of problems with my throat and then read that reishi mushroom tea can cause mild alergic reaction if use over 3 months, i had been using it every night for 8 months, as soon as stopped the reishi within a week my throat felt normal and was fine for a good few months until recently

First, welcome, and sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well physically and mentally.

Second, I would stick to plain whole foods for a while and keep a journal of what you eat and any symptoms that may be happening. Then, take that journal to your regular doctor and review if there is any correlation. If they suspect an allergy, request a prescription for two EpiPens and a referral to a certified allergist for further testing. The most common foods that cause allergic reactions are peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, milk, egg, seafood (fish, shellfish, crustaceans, molluscs), mustard, sesame, and sulphites. However, any food (or medication) can cause allergic reactions.  Viruses can cause similar symptoms as well.

Search for the FARE Allergy Action Plan for a list of symptoms associated with food allergies: hives, itchiness, swelling, breathing difficulties, drop in blood pressure, heart failure, sense of impending doom, and others.

Call an ambulance immediately if you experience any shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, faintness, or pale/blue skin.

I hope you can find the cause of what ails you.  I would definitely make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your concerns sooner than later, and come up with a plan to figure it out. In the meantime, this is a good place to ask questions.

needing a bit of help if anyone can, keep having problems with my throat which come and go, on Sunday noticed a small round lump top of neck under chin right side, i totally panicked and didnt sleep that night, went emergency doctor Monday morning and they said they think its a swollen lymph node (dont like the word think), told them my daughters had a cold and sore throat and they think i must of caught it, although ive not had a cold but had a uncomfortable throat for a couple weeks (wouldn't say sore though)

not eaten much since Sunday as anxiety high, throat felt mostly fine until yesterday dinner time when i had a spoon full of manuka honey and a big bowl of cream of chicken soap then a couple of hours later my throat started feeling all swollen and struggling to swallow, i bought some ant-histamines and ibropofen which took and couple hours later throat felt quite bit better, this morning throat feels a bit swollen again, just took another antihistamine,

does this sound like a food alergy? im totally panicking and not handling this well at all as the lump still there

also noticed that throat feels bit swollen next day after eaten natural yogurt the night before

any advice appreciated
