Summary: This webinar will discuss types of food allergy that differ from the immediate-onset reactions that are triggered by IgE antibodies and can result in anaphylaxis. These non-IgE-mediated food allergies include food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES), eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and various forms of cow’s milk protein allergy, among others. Confusion regarding non-IgE-mediated food allergies can delay proper diagnosis or lead to unnecessary dietary avoidance. This webinar will discuss important differences between IgE-mediated and non-IgE-mediated food allergies, such as underlying causes, diagnostic testing, management, prognosis and risks. No presentation on this topic would be complete without discussion of food intolerance and sensitivity as well.
