Title: Van's Natural Foods new pb & nut products
Post by: twinturbo on January 14, 2013, 07:38:19 AM
We've used Van's waffles for years without incident for PA EA child. Last trip to store I saw Van's now makes peanut butter snack bars and a nut cereal. I'll email them later but unless they're using a different facility for the new nut products Van's is no longer a nut free facility although I know previously they were nominally nut free but did not say so because of what their employees ate.

PB would tank our comfort zone with the waffles.

Oh, we use those waffles too.  That would be awful if we have to eliminate those.  DD loves them.

When I get the chance I'll check Nature's Path again. I know we've used their buckwheat berry waffles in the past.

Thank you for your interest in Van's!  All waffles, pancakes, French Toast Sticks, English Muffins and Muffin Crowns are made on peanut free production lines.  The new Bars do contain nuts. Our new Honey Nut Crunch cereal does not contain actual nuts. However, honey along with natural nut flavors used in our cereal inspired its unique flavor and name.

Our new Cereals and Bars are not produced in a nut-free facility, those facilities do handle nuts. The three Van's crackers: Say Cheese, Bit of Everything and Multigrain are produced in a nut free facility.

Anyone use Van's waffles with a tree nut allergy?  Their website says no nuts in any of the waffles, but it's not on the box.  At the moment, only DD is eating them so not an issue.

We think she is having an issue with dairy so we are avoiding it for a little bit so Eggos will not work.

Making waffles is pretty easy, if you want that route.  We make a large batch and freeze them for individual use later.  (Which barely lasts us a week, LOL.) I have a few recipes if you want some.

I'm not sure we own a waffle maker any more (it may have died)...she is fully capable of making dairy free pancakes if she wants them, we have a recipe that we used for years when DS was allergic to eggs.  She will only eat these on the weekends.
