Title: Estrogen in Soy Butter?
Post by: cammiec on January 16, 2015, 10:09:51 PM
Since I have nut allergies, I have been eating soy butter & apples. Every day for months. I've noticed lately some unusual symptoms, but couldn't figure out why. I mentioned to someone that I wondered if I'd been eating to much soy, since it's a bean, & they told me that it contains estrogen. Does anyone know anything about this? Should I talk to my doctor or dietician? I am avoiding soy for now.

First of all, hi and welcome!

High doses of soy mimic estrogen; it's why products with soy isoflavones are recommended for menopause symptom relief.

I have no idea how much soy you are consuming and what your symptoms are, but this is probably something you should probably discuss with your physician.

Good luck!

I'm sure there's no shortage of the Mercola-esque versions out there on the internet.

Whatever the case not at all related to soy allergy or allergy in general.

I spoke with my doctor about my symptoms, she said the soy-estrogen would not cause this. I'm afraid I may have developed a soy allergy now.  :-[ I'll speak with my allergist next week.
