Does anyone use the Pillsbury Funfetti cake mies, frosting, etc...?
In general, I trust Pillsbury labeling.
I called Crisco/Smuckers/Pillsbury about a year ago and they told me they use "may contain" anytime there is shared equipment with the allergic *protein* (for top 8 allergens). From this I infer that they do not label for the highly refined nut oils that are not considered allergens. This is within our comfort zone but may not be for others.
I've used their frostings several times and used other Pillsbury products quite a bit without a problem.
We use Pillsbury. I currently have the cream cheese frosting -- milk free!
The cream cheese is milk free? NO freaking way! I usually make my own frosting, but we do use Funfetti as an occasional back up plan.
YES!! I know, I was surprised too, lol. No MILK in CREAM CHEESE Frosting??! Normally I wouldn't even pick up the cream cheese flavor to look at it. My hubby found it.
We just used it this week on my applesauce bars --- very yummy!
ETA: I had to go look at the can again, just to be absolutely sure I wasn't telling the wrong info. I see that it is not Pillsbury, it is Duncan Hines frosting. We usually buy the Pillsbury! So, don't go buying the Pillsbury cream cheese frosting -- I don't know if that is milk-free. Sorry! It's the Duncan Hines!
Thanks, GP. I'll check out the Duncan Hines next time I'm at the store. Mmmm.... I love me some cream cheese frosting. :)
Isn't it funny the things that seem impossible to not have your allergen? My mother-in-law discovered that Wegman's brand honey nut cheerios have no nuts...go figure!
really?! That's crazy! Honey NUT has no nuts? Wow.
