Lone Star Tick causing meat allergies in central Virginia
June 18, 2012

Researchers from the University of Virginia say they've linked a sudden onset of meat allergies to the bite of the tick, which is formally named amblyomma americanum and is commonly found in Virginia. Experts say they've counted 1,000 cases so far, mostly located in central Virginia.

I just stumbled on article today doing search about ticks in the area . . . wanting to get our kids more informed and diligent about tick checks.

Somebody posted about an adult relative having this on Hyperboards but I don't remember who it was.

I just remember reading it in surprise and feeling like nothing is safe....any food can become deadly......and it's food, something we more often than not take for granted and certainly do not expect it will cause us harm.
