Title: Almond Dish Soap
Post by: gufyduck on May 29, 2013, 10:21:49 PM
Wanted to post a quick warning, at Walmart the other day, I found a dish soap containing almond oil. Its Ultra Dishmate Natural Almond scent.  I have a pix, but am not seeing how to upload it.  Just what I always wanted to see.  Dishes washed in almond oil.

Found a pic here for anyone that wants a look:

This is what I hate most about food allergies.  That it isn't 'just' food.  The stuff is EVERYWHERE.   :paddle:

But is it true almond or faux almond sans peach or apricot seeds?

The label I saw (different from what the pix shows) lists almond oil as the last ingredient.

From their website
QuotePleasantly scented with expensive, pure, natural almond and cherry oils

Oh well gosh, they're expensive oils. That's different then. I think I'll email them and let them know what I think about it.

eta: you know what's scary? From the look of it, the oil is not disclosed on the ingredient list so people would possibly assume that there is no "real" almond in it. It's hidden in the "natural fragrance".

eta again-just reread your post and it sounds like they have almond oil listed on the bottle itself?

Same goes for milk, egg, and wheat proteins Organix shampoo coming to mind. I've seen a large increase in milk protein in soaps and shampoos.

Yes-- it's really everything that you put in contact with your body, or heat in proximity to yourself.

Many hotel soaps have almond or walnut pieces in them.  Why?  I dunno.

My family made fun of me for bringing our own hand soap to a hotel. Luckily I'm used to it so I ignored it.

eta: not my immediate family. My sisters and parents.

You mean other people don't do that?

My parents have been bringing soap to hotels since before I was born.  Then DH did it and I had to do it with the kids because of the eczema.
