Does this new show's tagline bother anyone else?

Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up, and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the '80s.

(ABC's The Goldbergs)

Not sure if anyone has already posted about this, but this just came on my radar (not a very big fan of network tv) a few days ago.

Meh-- well, it is certainly true that it was MUCH rarer then.

Regardless of snide intentions, I mean.

I suspect that it may have been intended to be snarky, but I guess it doesn't bother me THAT mcuh.

Resistance isn't futile.  It's voltage divided by current.

If it's any consolation, most personal reviews I've seen of it are pretty bad. If the commercials for it look that stupid there's no way I'm wasting my time watching it.

LOL I have heard the exact opposite - that it is one of the shows to watch this season (and from several members here).

In regards to the tagline, ehhh.  Doesn't incite anger today.  Ask me again in a few weeks.  I run hot and cold.  Make a snide remark like Rosie about bringing nuts into school and it goes into lockdown, that bothers me.  Mentioning the allergy is on the rise, doesn't.  It makes me more sad that they haven't figured out why but that is another sadness for another day.
DS1 - Wheat, rye, barley and egg
DS2 - peanuts
DD -  tree nuts, soy and sunflower
Me - bananas, eggplant, many drugs

y'know, if i thought for a second it was just meant to convey that life was simple before peanut allergies were on the rise (a disability that has caused hardship in the lives of many nowadays), that would be one thing.  but grouped in with "parenting blogs" and "trophies for showing up" makes me think that the idiot who came up with this was really just saying PA is another symptom of our overly complex "helicopter parenting" world these days.  just my take ...

again, i don't really watch tv, so i probably would not have watched it anyway, but now i will make it a point not to watch.  i'm sure it will crash and burn, though ... sounds way too cliched!
