Back from the allergist... EoE testing?

I wasn't sure where to post this so please move if needed!

My 10 yr old DS had his allergist appt yesterday and they did SPT again. He's still positive to many foods, no surprise there.  But, our allergist is recommending we see a GI specialist because she suspects EoE.  When he was younger, he'd get contact hives.  But, over the past 5 years, his reaction to his allergens is primarily vomiting...sometimes immediate (raw milk) and other times it might be 2 hours later (sesame - newly diagnosed).  No other reaction. We have been practicing strict avoidance until his baked milk & baked egg challenge a couple years ago.  We find when we increase his dosage, he gets a stomach ache... nothing else.  He had a raw milk challenge last summer and vomited all over the PA. :-/ No other reaction.

He's a happy, healthy boy, so I don't have any major concerns.  Just wanted to get your thoughts on this.  Has anyone else been down this path?  What's the benefit in this diagnosis if he does have EoE?  Does it change anything for us?

Thanks for your input!

We have both a GI and an allergist.

DD has a sesame allergy which the allergist looks after.

---------------------------

However, she has this weird thing with egg whites.  I don't know what to call it.  The IgE & SPT are negative, but if she eats too much she gets stomach aches & diarrhea.  I have seen this pattern since she was a toddler.

This summer, working with the GI, we purposely increased the egg white for a month before scoping (to check for eosinophilic disorders).  By the end of the month, dd was even having some blood in her bm.

DD is still being worked up and the GI is sending me a copy of the scope report so I can read it & share with dd's allergist.

---------------------------

Working with both a GI & allergist can make sense sometimes.  My non-expert opinion is that what you describe could be pure IgE allergy symptoms, but having a GI evaluate the eosinophilic possibility might make sense also.

Kids with food allergies, kids outgrowing FA, kids doing OIT ... can be at increased risk of developing an eosinophilic disorder.

Resistance isn't futile.  It's voltage divided by current.

Thanks LinkEtc & CMdeaux!  I'm curious to see what the GI doc says... it would be nice to get the scope done just to rule that out.  Or if it's positive, we'll be glad to know.  We'll just keep walking forward.  :)
