OAS or reaction?

Tonight I ate a chocolate-covered macademia nut.  My ears instantly starting feeling really weird.  They are itchy and feel kinda clogged.  Maybe there's some swelling, causing the clogged feeling, or maybe it's fluid?  About five minutes after eating it, I noticed that my throat feels a little itchy/scratchy, but there's no swelling.  I eat almonds, pecans, and walnuts without a problem.  I have OAS to apples, especially red ones, but no other food reactions until now.  ETA:  I forgot to include that I have OAS to soymilk, but I'm fine with soy in other forms such as ice cream, yogurt, and either raw or cooked tofu.  I have ragweed, tree pollen, grass, mold, dust mite, and other allergies.  Should I be concerned about macademia nuts, or can I assume it's OAS and it's not a big deal?

ETA:  It's been about an hour now, and my ears are getting better.  My eyes have gotten itchy, but it's not terrible.  I did not take anything to curb the reaction.

I would be very concerned about the macadamias. I am not able to look at their food family to see about cross reactivity, but u would at least stay away from them.

What I know about them:  most brands are on shared lines with peanuts. But in the safe treenut thread I did post about one that wasn't. The thing is, I don't know which peanuts are processed on shares lines with macadamias.

Glad you are better.

I get that Eustachian tube swelling from sesame. It does feel very weird.

I get the ear swelling feeling when someone is cooking my allergens. I suggest wariness when dealing with throat symptoms as sometimes they're unpredictable.  :-/

Are you feeling improved?

GoingNuts

I do get that ear swelling, itchy throat thing from OAS.   But it is certainly hard to say.

When elder DS gets OAS from hazelnuts, it happens even if they are baked.    HE really just can't eat them during the spring.  If you have fall allergies, maybe it's the same with macadamias for you.

I was thinking OAS, which is why I didn't get worked up about it, but I figured that I should check with the experts.  ;)  It looks like they're cross-reactive with soy, among other things.  I can't drink soymilk without an OAS reaction, so that's probably my answer.  I can eat soy in other forms -- soy yogurt soy ice cream, raw or cooked tofu --but I can't drink soymilk.  I don't know why I didn't think to look at cross-reactivity last night.  Thanks.

Tofu is made by adding coagulant to cooked soymilk. One could use it in another cooking method or further process it but it's not raw meaning hasn't already been cooked.
