Help with the Board Functionality

This is a topic for people who would like to ask questions about how the board works.  I cannot guarantee that I can answer them, but hopefully between us all we can find the answers.

Important difference here from our recent abode at hyperboards:

When sending PM's here, you will need to CHECK the box at the bottom of the message if you wish to retain a copy of the sent message in your own mailbox.  It doesn't do it automatically the way we're used to. 

You can change the default settings on your own PM box to automatically retain sent messages, if you prefer.

There is also an option in your control panel to save all sent messages.

Profile>Modify Profile>Personal Messaging
Save a copy of each personal message in my sent items by default  ✓

What is this "block" feature and how does it work?


Under your account, choose Profile--> modify profile--> buddy/ignore list

You can add a member to the "ignore" list, and then that member's posts (and PM's) are "invisible" to you.

For an example, I've added SilverLining to my "ignore" list temporarily and snapped a screenshot of a thread to demonstrate what a member's posts look like if I'm "ignoring" him/her:

Hi. I am brand new to your forum. I posted my introduction on the correct thread but I did not enter on the bottom, where I am from and other allergies . I noticed that all the other entries have this. Can I get back onto my original post? Also, on the pages where people can write their concerns and questions....how do I post there? So many question....so many hives! Really appreciate your help! Paula Deryens from Richmknd, Virginia.

Welcome! 

To add a signature to your post, follow these steps:

Hover over the button that says Profile (it's above the green box at the top of the page)
Choose Forum Profile
from there you can modify your signature to show location, allergies, etc.

To modify a post you've made, go to the post and in the top section of that post should be a button that says modify.  Make any changes and then click save at the bottom.

In other areas of the board, you post just as you did here.  If you don't see a topic you want to post in, you can start a new one by clicking New Topic at the top of the list of topics in that section.

Would it be possible to explain how to post a photo? I could use some very basic assistance, for example, how to use photobucket for this purpose.

This is how I do it, there may be an easier way...

Once you have the picture loaded on photobucket, off to the right side should be list called "links to share".

Copy the "IMG" link

It will end up with [ ] with URL info sandwiching the [ ] img part, which you can see before you post it

Then delete the part in front of the [ ] with IMG and after the [ ] with img


So it should work and end up like this



This is not a good explanation, but when I hit post, what I wanted you to see disappears into a link.
