Bad restaurant experience

Allergy Sufferers Beware!! I dined at The Beehive this past Wednesday evening and alerted the waiter of my severe peanut allergy. I made it through the main course fine. When dessert was brought out I asked again to ensure that attention had been paid to my allergy and he assured me that it was safe and had been brought to the table by a manager. After a few bites of my dessert my mouth began to itch, my throat started feeling off (my voice began changing) and my heartrate was rapid. I walked back to my car and began vomiting. I had to inject myself with my emergency EpiPen and spent the night in hospital on a course of steroids. I called the restaurant the next morning to inform them of what happened. The manager was apologetic but when the chef got on the phone he basically told me they don't have peanuts in house so things like this wouldn't happened, it was probably cross contamination and he didn't know what to tell me. I tried inquiring about what was in garnishes, what things were roasted in, etc. and he would cut me off and say we don't have peanuts. The manager said she would look further into the matter and call me back the next day to check on me. It is 4 days later and no one from the restaurant has reached out to check on me, let me know that they figured out how/why this happened or inform me of any changes that have been made to protect other patrons with food allergies. And although I am not looking for any monetary compensation for my time in the hospital, missed work or replacement EpiPens, they haven't even offered to compensate me for my meal! It is disappointing that, after a near death experience at their restaurant, no one from the establishment has cared to follow up with me. This just shows their lack of care for their patrons and leaves me with little confidence that they will take appropriate precautions going forward.

Not me. I stated at the top, but maybe didn't make it as clear as I thought, that my relative posted that on FB. I shared the other her permission. This was the bride and ho couldn't find a safe baker for her wedding cake a few years ago, so I made it.

Update: another relative found this. The restaurant swore they have no peanuts in house.

OK, it seems the link goes where I want it on my laptop, but not on my phone.  Strange.

I didn't quite read that right.  Still, I am glad whoever it was is okay.  Sometimes places say they are peanut free but don't realize the ingredients they are using contain traces.  I have seen it where a store claiming nut free, and then using Bob's Red Mill ingredients with a may contain warning, and not transferring that warning to the finished product.

We've found that it is almost always best to skip dessert. In most places, you just can't count on it being safe with a nut allergy.

It turns out in this case, it wasn't cross contamination or traces.  Peanuts were an actual ingredient, but they told her there were no peanuts in house.
