I need to make more soup, and for that to not be a royal pain, I need an immersion blender.

Any recommendations?

I have a GE hand blender and although I don't use it often, I love it when I do use it.

I have a Cuisinart...love it when I need to use it...sure beats using a blender when the soup is hot!  (Not friendly to non-stick pans, though...)

I recently got a Cuisinart Smart Stick.  I like it quite a bit.  It's not perfect, but it gets soups to a pretty smooth texture.  It's much better than the Braun I had before.  Sur La Table has them on sale periodically so you might check there.

I have a 20+ year old Braun.(TWO recieved as wedding gifts ~1988)

It's still going strong after all that time-- unlike the marraige, I might add.

I  my little Braun; I've used it for everything from pureeing soups on the stovetop to whipping heavy cream for frosting and trifles.
Resistance isn't futile.  It's voltage divided by current.

I have a ~15 year old Braun that I got in a supermarket giveaway for year-end spending, LOL.

I adore it!  Easy to use, easy to clean.  And the price was right.  ;)

I have a no name one that we got for $5 onsale.  I adore it and it works as well as my MIL and SIL's Cuisanart models.  I figure if it croaks, it was $5.  DH brought it home and I was like okay (he was on the search for a blender).  But once I broke it out, I was addicted LOL

Braun here.  No frills or attachments.  I just put it in a bean or pea soup and presto.  Easy to clean as well.
