I believe this may be Canada specific.

Peanut Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness

I just saw this on Facebook and I'm not sure if this link will work.  The link does not seem to be working.  The FB group is Peanut Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness.

These Dare Jelly Beans were purchased at Sobey's and the Mom posted a picture of the bag and the peanut shell piece.  Dare is suppose to be Peanut Free.

PurpleCat

How did you do that????

There are lots more comments now and the mom that found the shell has called and left a message at Dare.

Yikes. Very, very scary.

Okay--I'm going to ask the less obvious question:  why in the heck was a church having an Easter party this weekend?  Easter is April 20th. I could understand having it Holy Saturday, but three weeks ahead?  No way. That is crazy.
Me: Sesame, shellfish, chamomile, sage
DS: Peanuts

My initial thought is:  Is that a regularly posting member of that FB group or is it a newly recent join and possible troll?

Does anyone else find the following weird?

It's a peanut shell meaning unshelled peanuts rather than shelled peanuts are in ANY facility that processes peanut products? Would the overwhelming statistical likelihood not be a shelled peanut fragment?

Who would hold the shell? I'd take a picture on a piece of paper in my garage but not in my hand in the kitchen.

Just my thoughts.

That. Or that the timing of this is April First~ish instead of Easter~ish.

Per Dare's FB page, they did testing of the questionable product, several bags from the same lot, and on bags from the same store and found no detectable peanut proteins on the outside or inside of the bag or on the candies themselves.  I'm quite impressed with their quick response on this.
