These were a staple in our stockings so I was disappointed.  Thankful that they label though.

Resistance isn't futile.  It's voltage divided by current.

Several on the FB groups were told by Hersheys over the phone and on FB that the labeling is incorrect and the santas are still safe. Of course I would call yourself but we are going to avoid these just to be safe.

I've seen both a package of 6 and individual Santas that had the almond warning on them. It was definitely a change in labeling from last year (I still have a safe one from last year floating around the house). So I'd say the manufacturing process changed--just like with the fun size Hershey bars years ago.

I just found several cartons of the six packs of Santas at Target without the warning on them.  All of the other ones I've seen this year had the warning.  I optimistically bought a six pack, but, as much as I trust Hershey's, I probably won't give them to dd anyway.  I'll investigate further when I have time and will post back.

Some have found multi-packs where there was no warning on the outside but a warning on the santas inside. Hershey maintains that they are not made on shared lines but we are avoiding them anyway. I wonder why they haven't issued some kind of alert about these.

Even with the mistake, there is no way I could ask my kids to ignore labels that clearly state allergens, kwim?

And I guess Hershey is not going to go through an expensive recall and will just leave the labels as is.  So yes, they lose the tree allergic customers this year but it will still cost less than recalling all of those Santas for mislabeling or the mistrust in the future of allergic families.

Hershey has now made it public that they are changing all packaging (and manufacturing) to lines with almond. However, their statements that the ones mentioned on their fb page were made on almond-free lines could be very dangerous if people are still relying on that information. I have screenshots with people saying that their package had an almond warning and Hershey replying that they were not made on shared lines with almond.

I was under the impression (from the alert) that were still safe ones, without the warning, as well as newer unsafe ones , with the warning and both were correctly labeled.

Jessica, can you link us to where Hershey's made that public?

As an aside, I went to their FB page to look for it. I love the pushback they've been getting on their "project peanut butter" posts. :)

Jessica

They are from back in November and when I try to go back that far on the posts to their page, the posts started coming up blank. I do have screen shots though. I'm off to bed now but I'll share them tomorrow.
