This weekend is my grandson's birthday. His mom is so busy, she wants to "cheat" with a cake mix and asked me what was safe.  I told her to go with Betty Crocker, and if I was wrong I just wouldn't eat it.

Don't think I'll be so lucky with the other product I need to check.

Yes, we use Betty Crocker most often, but also use Pillsbury once in awhile.  The nice thing about Pillsbury frostings is they have some that are safe for milk allergy too, so I would use that for other kids I knew with that allergy. 

I made 2 Betty Crocker cakes this am, and have BC cans of frosting for them.  Cake Walk tonight. 

We use McCormick food coloring and Signature brand or Cake Mate sprinkles.

I had suggested Cherrybrook to her, but it would probably have been too expensive for the quantity she had to make - plus PN & TN are the only allergens she needed to avoid.

This is her first baking project for a child with allergies, and it's been a real eye-opener for her!

We always use Cherrybrook Kitchens cookie and cake mixes since they are wheat-free, nut-free, egg-free and milk-free (which are the allergens we have to avoid).  Even the chocolate chip cookie mix is milk-free (dairy-free chocolate chips).  They have both a yellow cake and a chocolate cake mix, and a brownie mix, and cookie mixes.

Fondant would be Satin Ice Rolled Fondant.  It tastes better than Wilton's brand (used prior to FAs)

Betty Crocker for PN/TN; check.  Most are also good for egg allergy, fwiw.

Frosting, again, Betty Crocker tubs.

I don't know of a safe fondant... we have used Americolor, too.

For the ones you can buy anywhere, we trust Betty Crocker brand. I rarely use mixes anymore but when I do, I use Cherrybrook Kitchen. It's expensive though (one box is half the size of a regular cake mix).

For sprinkles and novelty frosting, we trust CakeMate. No idea about Fondant. I guess I would make it from scratch (the marshmallow recipe I've seen online) or get it from Americolor.

eta: we use americolor food coloring now but we've used McCormick and Betty Crocker in the past.

One of my coworkers was asked to make vanilla cupcakes for a child with a nut allergy.  I never use mixes - do you know which mixes are OK?  Duncan Hines?  Better Crocker?

How about fondant and decorations?
