Nothing surprising but you get it all in one bullet list.

QuoteTake a look at some of Mylan's financial ties to America's prominent allergy advocacy groups:

  • Mylan is a Corporate Council Member of AAN and sponsors events like the Network's upcoming 4th annual USAnaphylaxis Summits.
  • Mylan is a national corporate partner of FARE, which was the key lobbyist for the bill encouraging schools to stock EpiPens.
  • Mylan was the Premier Sponsor of FARE's May 2016 annual National Food Allergy Conference and is also the Premier Sponsor for FARE's upcoming Teen Summit in November.
  • Mylan is a Platinum Sponsor of Kids With Food Allergies, a division of AAFA.
  • Mylan made a cash donation to the annual spring fundraiser for the AAFA's New England chapter and is sponsoring their Family Concert & Food Allergy EXPO in October.
  • Mylan is sponsoring continuing education for those participating in AAFA Alaska's 11th Annual Alaska Asthma and Allergy Conference in September.
  • Mylan funded activities at the 2016 AAAAI Annual meeting and also supported the AAAAI Foundation throughout the year as of January 15, 2016.

Are these allergy advocacy groups holding back criticism of Mylan's unconscionable price hikes to protect a funding source? Only their leaders really know.

Mylan's price gouging has damaged the company's reputation and will surely go down in history as one of the more despicable acts of corporate greed. However, if stakeholders – especially national allergy advocacy organizations – don't demand price regulation of the lifesaving EpiPen and other pharmaceuticals, it won't be the last.
